Cornwall Caricatures is a one-woman company, run solely by award-winning artist and business owner, Cassie Kemp.
Cassie has been drawing people since she was a toddler, and drew faces every single day as a child. People have forever been her passion, and she even drew Bake Off favourites, Mel and Sue when she was 9 years old!
After seeing a caricaturist drawing at a theme park as a teenager, Cassie was amazed and decided to do it herself, setting up a stand in the busy town of Newquay, drawing tourists in pastel.
She then focused on her degree, studying Graphic Design at Falmouth University, but of all her projects featured faces, most notably her ‘Face the Music’ campaign which won her YCN’s National Award of Best of the Year in 2010. The design comprised of 64 music ‘icons’ Cassie drew as simple digitally illustrated faces, which represented 64 years of British Music. The O2 then commissioned Cassie to create their advertising campaign for the British Music Experience, which included a competition for people who correctly guessed Cassie’s illustrations, with prizes from artists such as Rod Stewart.
Still unaware she could make a career in her passion of drawing faces, Cassie set about building a career in Design and Marketing, but started to get live caricature bookings through word of mouth and bought the domain name for ‘Cornwall Caricatures’ for a rainy day. She was so focused on planning her own wedding for 2 years, that it wasn’t until 2015 that she decided to go for it, and Cornwall Caricatures was born!
Since then she has drawn thousands of faces at weddings, events and parties up and down the country, winning ‘Best Wedding Entertainer’ at the Simply Weddings Awards in 2017, less than 2 years after her first wedding booking. Cornwall’s only live event pen artist, Cassie has a consistent 5* rating, and thoroughly happy customers.
Mum to 2 crazy kids (aged 4 & 6), Cassie juggles motherhood with the business – luckily she enjoys spinning plates and likes a challenge!
